Conejos County Traffic Court Records
Which court holds your case depends on the law named on the ticket. A Colorado statute charge filed in state court lands with Conejos County Court. The Conejos Combined Court clerk keeps that case file. A ticket written under a town code or the locally adopted Model Traffic Code belongs to the municipal court that issued it. Manassa, Sanford, La Jara, and Antonito each handle those matters outside the unified state clerk system.
Some tickets never start in a courtroom at all. A Colorado Department of Revenue penalty assessment can be paid straight through DOR. An existing fine, fee, cost, or restitution balance on a state case goes through Colorado Judicial online payment. Two different channels, and neither one searches every Conejos County traffic court record. The Colorado DMV ticket and penalty-assessment page sets out the DOR route.
That official page draws the key line for drivers. It separates a DOR assessment, which you simply pay, from a summons you must answer in the court it names.
Conejos County Traffic Ticket Routes
Check the payee and court heading before you touch any portal. A DOR assessment still inside its payment window follows the address and terms printed on that notice. A state case carrying class T belongs to Conejos Combined Court. A town summons stays with its municipal clerk. Pay the wrong agency and your case is still open somewhere else.
- DOR penalty assessment
- A payable state assessment handled through the Department of Revenue while its stated payment route remains open.
- County Court T case
- A Judicial Branch traffic case with a year, T class, and sequence, searchable in the state hearing docket.
- Municipal citation
- A town-code matter held by Manassa, Sanford, La Jara, or Antonito rather than the Conejos state clerk.
- CJOP balance
- A fine, fee, cost, or restitution balance already held in the Colorado Judicial court payment system.
Looking Up a Traffic Ticket
The free Colorado Judicial Branch Docket Search is the fastest way to find a Conejos County Court traffic setting. Enter a date or date range plus at least one more filter. The results list hearings but not pleadings or the full register of actions. The ticket may not have posted yet. The date may be unclear, or the state search may skip your issuing town. Then call the clerk route printed on the citation instead.
- Read the citation heading, payee, deadline, and named court. Decide whether it is a DOR assessment, state court case, or municipal case.
- For a state case, select Conejos County, choose the date filter, and add the year, T class, sequence, party name, or another permitted field.
- Review the result's date, time, hearing type, location, appearance type, and courtroom. A setting is not a finding of guilt.
- If no state result appears, call 719-376-5465, email ConejosClerk@judicial.state.co.us, visit the temporary counter, or mail a targeted request.
- For a town ticket, use that town's official page where one exists, then contact its municipal clerk. Do not treat CJOP as a town docket.
Conejos County Traffic Search Fields
The state docket search offers its own set of controls. Use only the fields the live page shows. Do not invent a citation format or guess a dropdown value. Public examples follow the pattern 2025T35, with year, class, and sequence entered as separate inputs.
| Field | Type | Required or Format |
|---|---|---|
| Judicial District | Dropdown | Optional; Conejos is the 12th |
| County | Dropdown | Optional but recommended; select Conejos County |
| Courthouse | Dropdown | Conditional; Conejos Combined Court |
| Court Type | Selector | Optional; Both, County, or District |
| Division | Text or select | Optional; no public option list displayed |
| Date Range | Dropdown | Required; six months, three months, one month, one week, today, or specific date |
| Specify A Date | Date | Conditional when Specific Date is chosen |
| 4-Digit Year | Text | First case-number part |
| Case Class | Dropdown | Select T for a traffic case |
| Case Sequence | Text | Numeric final part |
| Individual or Business | Radio | Controls party fields |
| First and Last Name | Text | Individual search |
| Business Name | Text | Business search |
| Attorney route | Radio and text | Bar number or attorney first and last name |
A result can display Date, Time, Duration, Name, Case Number, Hearing Type, Location, Appearance Type, and Courtroom. Print and export buttons sit alongside the list, and results run across multiple pages.
How to Find Your Traffic Court Date
Begin with the appearance date printed on the citation. Then check it against the newest state docket result or municipal notice. Many labels have appeared on Conejos state traffic settings. These include Arraignment, PreTrial Conference, Appearance on Bond, Plea Hearing, and Sentencing Hearing. A label names the event, not the outcome. And a blank appearance-type field is no invitation to show up online.
| Case number | Year, traffic class, and sequence, such as 2025T35. |
|---|---|
| Date and time | The current setting shown in the result, checked against the newest notice. |
| Hearing type | The kind of setting, such as arraignment, plea, pretrial, or sentencing. |
| Location | The listed venue. A trial may be assigned away from the temporary state court site. |
| Appearance type | In person, telephone, or another displayed method when the court has authorized it. |
| Courtroom | The room or division attached to that setting. |
Hearing dates move. The citation, the latest order, and direct confirmation from the clerk all outrank a stale calendar entry. For broader help, see Conejos County court dates.
Conejos County Traffic Hearing Terms
An arraignment is the early appearance. That is where a plea is entered and the case gets organized. A pretrial conference covers readiness and what happens next. An appearance on bond deals with the case while release terms are in effect. Plea and sentencing hearings mark distinct later stages. Those labels appear in the Conejos traffic calendar, but none of them proves an outcome.
Read the type beside the newest date, the appearance method, and the courtroom. If it clashes with the citation, ask the Conejos clerk which setting is active.
Conejos County Traffic Municipal Channels
None of the four town courts offers one shared search. Manassa posts court and payment endpoints but no searchable docket fields. Its Town Hall sits at 401 Main Street. Official phone listings conflict with each other. Sanford generally holds court the second Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in the Community Center Board Room. That schedule can change. Its secure citation portal takes a Reference ID but is not a case search.
La Jara offers no case portal or calendar. Rely on the summons. You can also use Town Hall at 221 Broadway, the 719-274-5363 line, or a targeted request. Antonito likewise has no official docket or payment portal. The temporary state court at 603 Main Street does not mean Antonito Municipal Court uses that counter. The state court data-sharing record documents the continuing municipal integration gap.
Note: A blank state docket search should point you to the issuing town clerk. Never use an unofficial directory or payment page.
Pay or Contest a Ticket
A DOR penalty assessment must be postmarked within 20 days. Otherwise the ticket heads to court. Paying it admits guilt. DOR cannot take a summons or a municipal citation. It also cannot take a ticket more than 40 days old once referral happens. Under Colorado's civil-infraction procedure, payment of the fine, surcharges, and docket fees may still be allowed during the two business days before the appearance time after the first 20 days pass. The printed ticket controls. Not every charge follows the payable route.
| Pay | Contest |
|---|---|
| Follow the payee, deadline, and method printed on the citation. | Follow the appearance or plea directions of the named court. |
| Payment is an admission for the DOR assessment route. | Do not send payment when the goal is to dispute liability. |
| DOR, CJOP, and town portals resolve different obligations. | The court can set an arraignment, pretrial, plea, trial, or later event. |
Missed deadline or setting: Consequences depend on the charge and court. Do not assume each missed civil setting creates a warrant. Contact the named court at once, confirm the case status, and follow the court's compliance directions.
Conejos County Traffic Ticket Payments
Paying a Conejos County ticket online runs through CJOP, the Colorado state-court payment system. Start at Court Location. Then run a search on a case number, ticket number, or a name paired with a date of birth. Pick Conejos. Or choose All and search statewide. Watch the clock: a payment made after 4:00 p.m. posts the next business day. That lag can matter when a court deadline sits close by. The Colorado Judicial online payment screen supplies the state-court route.
Keep in mind what the payment screen is not. It settles balances only; it is not a full Conejos County traffic court record and not a lookup for every town citation. For help with the payment system itself, the CJOP contact page supports payment-system questions.
Use that contact page only for payment-site trouble. Questions about a plea, a hearing date, or a case record still go to the court. Conejos Combined Court takes check, cash, money order, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. Never mail cash. Put your name and case number on anything you send. Fines come due at sentencing. A payment plan carries a listed annual $25 processing fee.
Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record
A traffic court record and a driving record are two separate files. Two different offices keep them. The court that issued the citation holds the case. Its file can show the charge, case number, settings, plea, orders, disposition, and money activity. The Conejos Combined Court clerk keeps a state T case. A town clerk keeps its own municipal case. Copies and certified documents come from whichever court holds the file.
The Colorado DMV keeps the driving record. A reportable court outcome may reach that record later, but a DMV restraint is an administrative action that lives outside the court file. Each record updates on its own path.
| Court file custodian | Conejos Combined Court or the issuing municipal court. |
|---|---|
| Court file shows | Citation, settings, plea, orders, disposition, and court balance. |
| DMV file custodian | Colorado DMV Driver Control and Traffic Records. |
| DMV file shows | Credential status and reportable history maintained by the motor-vehicle agency. |
The DMV record and restraint page identifies the agency-side file.
The DMV page draws the line between the court case and the state agency record.
Conejos County Traffic Court Compliance
An unpaid Colorado or out-of-state ticket can trigger a DMV restraint. Fixing it takes two steps. First comes court compliance. Pay the balance or otherwise resolve the matter with the court named in the DMV letter. Get the receipt or compliance statement you need. Second comes DMV reinstatement. Clearing the court balance alone does not restore the driving privilege on its own.
When reinstatement is required, the agency process may involve Form DR 2870. It also may involve the $95 reinstatement fee. That $95 is not a Conejos court copy fee. It is not the usual cost to search a ticket, and it is not an automatic charge for every missed setting. The DMV reinstatement questions distinguish court compliance from agency action.
The agency material explains why a court receipt comes first, before the separate DMV step starts. The DMV reinstatement process lists the agency filing route.
That process page belongs only to the court-versus-DMV split and replaces no court response.
Copies and Fees
Copies of a traffic case come from the court that issued or filed the ticket. For a Conejos County Court T case, start with the Combined Court clerk. The statewide Record/Document Request Form also works. For a town case, ask the municipal office that holds it. A calendar printout is not a certified copy of a ticket, order, or disposition.
| Item | Published Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Online-request copy estimate | $0.25 per page | Ask which schedule and cap apply |
| Certified or exemplified copy | $20 per document | Added to the applicable copy cost |
| Name search | $5 | Use identifying details to narrow the request |
| Off-site file retrieval | Actual cost | May apply to an older record |
| Research or redaction | $30 per hour | 15-minute increments after the first hour |
The towns do not publish one countywide fee schedule. Check the exact amount with Manassa, Sanford, La Jara, or Antonito before you send funds.
Conejos County Traffic Court Location
A courthouse fire displaced Conejos Combined Court. It now sits in temporary quarters at 603 Main Street in Antonito. Mail still goes to P.O. Box 128, Conejos, CO 81129. The court page lists service through 4:00 p.m., while collections lists 5:00 p.m. Call 719-376-5465 before a late-day trip. Trials may sit elsewhere, and the newest notice always controls. A WebEx link alone grants no remote permission. The state-court move changes nothing about municipal custody.
Note: Use ConejosClerk@judicial.state.co.us for a state T case. Treat that mailbox as no Antonito municipal contact.
