Conejos County Court Calendars Explained
Conejos County sits in the 12th Judicial District. The Colorado Judicial Branch Docket Search is the free calendar for its state trial courts. It shows scheduled public matters, not a case's full history. The local operation combines Conejos District Court and Conejos County Court under one roof. The split still matters. District Court takes felonies, domestic relations, juvenile, probate, mental-health matters, and civil cases of any dollar amount. County Court handles misdemeanors, traffic, felony complaints, protection orders, small claims, and civil claims below its limit.
A calendar entry answers where and when the next event is due. It may list the date and time. Estimated duration, case number, hearing type, location, appearance type, and courtroom may appear too. It will not show every pleading, ruling, or minute order. That chronological history lives in the register of actions, often shortened to ROA. Filed papers and certified copies stay with the Conejos Combined Court clerk.
Conejos County Calendar Filters
The Conejos County calendar form filters by both location and identity. Pick the 12th Judicial District and Conejos County. Then set a date or a date range. A date alone will not run the search. The form demands at least one more filter. It accepts a party name, a case-number component, court type, courthouse, division, or attorney. This rule blocks overly broad pulls. It is also the most common reason a docket search looks broken when it is not. The official Conejos docket filter view shows how the location and time window narrow the calendar.
The picture reinforces the same point. A date must be paired with a second detail before the Conejos County court calendar returns a useful list.
Results print and may run across several pages. One visible page may not hold every match. Review all pages, then save the case number and the newest setting. A printout helps you reference the schedule. It does not freeze it. The court may later reset, continue, or cancel the event.
Finding Your Court Date
When a setting matters, use every channel. The free calendar is a first check, not the last one. A filed summons or notice may carry newer instructions. The clerk can confirm whether a result is current. The court posts no separate daily PDF docket for Conejos County. Do not wait on a local posting that may never come.
- Read the newest summons, notice of hearing, or court order. Note the case number, date, time, court, and listed venue.
- Open Docket Search, select the 12th Judicial District and Conejos County, choose a date, and add a party, case number, case class, court, division, or attorney filter.
- Compare the result's hearing type, appearance type, courtroom, and location with the filed notice. Review every results page if the list is paginated.
- If the records conflict or nothing appears, call the Clerk of Court at 719-376-5465 or email ConejosClerk@judicial.state.co.us.
- For an in-person check, use the temporary clerk counter during published hours, or mail a precise request to P.O. Box 128, Conejos, CO 81129. Counsel should also confirm through the case file and their court notices.
The statewide calendar is the official public route for hearing lists. CoCourts sells a paid real-time ROA. That history is informational only. It omits some cases and types, and it never replaces confirmation straight from the clerk.
Conejos County Civil Return Calendar
One local convention stands out. Conejos County sets County Court civil return dates on Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. A civil return is the point when the court first addresses the early status of a County Court civil matter. That recurring time explains how the docket is organized. It does not prove your claim is set on a given Tuesday. The individual notice and the current court calendar control.
Local calendar point. Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. is the published Conejos County Court civil return schedule, not a substitute for a case-specific setting.
Search with the case number or name either way. Inspect the hearing type and verify the location before you rely on it. Civil matters above the County Court limit belong to District Court. Domestic, probate, and other general-jurisdiction cases sit there too, and they may follow a different calendar. The court of filing beats any assumption drawn from the kind of dispute alone.
Note: A recurring docket time describes court practice. The newest order or notice fixes the setting for an individual Conejos County case.
How to Read a Court Setting
A Conejos County setting line tells you why court will convene and how you must attend. Read the full row. Hearing type names the event, such as an advisement, pretrial matter, or trial. Appearance type names the attendance method, in person or by telephone. Never trade one for the other. And never guess at a blank field.
| Date | The scheduled calendar day. Compare it with the newest filed notice. |
|---|---|
| Time | The listed start time for the setting, not a promise that every matter begins at once. |
| Duration | The court's estimate for the event. It may not reflect waiting time or later schedule changes. |
| Case Number | The year, case class, and numeric sequence that identify the court file. |
| Hearing Type | The reason the case is on the calendar, such as advisement, hearing, or trial. |
| Appearance Type | How attendance is listed, including in-person or telephone labels when used. |
| Location and Room | The listed venue and courtroom. Confirm both during the courthouse closure. |
Judge or division details can separate similar settings. Still, the current result and filed notice remain the best source. If no room or appearance mode is clear, ask. The Conejos County clerk can check the case record instead of forcing an inference from incomplete calendar fields.
Conejos County Hearing Venue Warning
A fire shut the permanent Conejos County Courthouse until further notice. In-person proceedings and clerk service moved, effective July 9, 2025, to the S.P.M.D.T.U. Concilio Superior at 603 Main Street in Antonito. Trials can happen somewhere else, though. Parties and jurors get specific notice. So trust the address on your newest summons or hearing notice over any assumption about the temporary building.
The temporary front office handles walk-in business Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except state holidays. No public computer terminal is promised there. Plan an on-site docket search? Call ahead. The calendar and your notice may show different venues, too.
The official Conejos jury information shows the separate attendance and security instructions. Those instructions may govern your appearance.
While the Conejos County docket operates from a temporary site, always pair calendar research with the live attendance notice you were sent.
Continuances, Resets, and Cancellations
A continuance or reset moves a hearing. A cancellation wipes it out. Old dates can linger in the docket's event history even after a new setting is entered. So the most recent docket event and court order carry the most weight. Conejos County publishes no local continuance form or reset deadline. And never assume a phone call, email, or pending request excuses you from showing up.
Recheck the official calendar close to your hearing date. Keep the filed notice, any order granting a continuance, and a copy of the current result. When a setting vanishes, call the clerk instead of treating the blank calendar as proof of cancellation. A paid CoCourts ROA can supply fuller event history. But the clerk's official file settles any dispute over what the court ordered.
Note: A request to move a hearing changes nothing on the calendar. The court must act and record the new setting first.
Conejos County WebEx Court Dates
A WebEx link is a doorway, not permission. A party or lawyer wanting a virtual appearance may have to file a motion first. That requirement sits in Chief Justice Directive 23-03. A room number alone never authorizes remote attendance. Follow the appearance type on the current result, the newest court notice, and any order granting the request.
The live Conejos County page lists rooms for Judge Jason Kelly's advisements, domestic-relations settings, and Water Referee Nicolás Sarmiento. A visiting judge appears there too. The 12th Judicial District instructions explain how to join by WebEx or phone. Room assignments shift, so a live county notice beats an older PDF. Joining the wrong room, or calling in without approval, does not satisfy an in-person order.
- Hearing type
- The reason court meets, such as advisement, pretrial, or trial.
- Appearance type
- The method the calendar lists for attendance.
- Setting
- A scheduled court appearance, conference, hearing, or trial.
- Reset
- A movement of the setting to a different date.
Missing Conejos County Court Dates
An empty result does not mean no court date exists. Start with spelling and the date window. Check that you picked Conejos County. Confirm the right court type too. Then try the case number in its pieces: four-digit year, class, and sequence. A town ordinance case may sit in a municipal court instead of the state system. Restricted, sealed, juvenile, archived, or incomplete records can also leave gaps.
Still nothing? Reach the Conejos Combined Court clerk by phone, email, counter, or mail. Provide the party name, filing year, case class, and case number if known. Add the date you believe matters. Ask for the latest scheduled setting and where it will be held. Tracking your own case also means comparing the free calendar with the Conejos County case lookup process, which explains when an ROA or official document request is the better route.
If You Miss a Court Setting
Act immediately. Call the Conejos County clerk. If you have a lawyer, call that lawyer too. Ask what the docket and official file show. Ask whether a new setting was entered, and what court process now applies. Never assume the case was dismissed or that a fresh date will simply arrive. Consequences hinge on the case type and the court's orders.
Missed a setting? A missed appearance can prompt court action, so call the clerk at 719-376-5465 and contact counsel without delay.
Confirm the correct venue before going to court because trials and other proceedings may be placed outside the temporary facility.
Only the court can state what has been ordered in the specific Conejos County case.
A later event on the free calendar never replaces the order entered after the missed date. When the exact procedural history matters, get the ROA or the document you requested. The clerk-held file is authoritative. Vendor data comes as is and may be incomplete.
